Edgebanding services

Edgebanding is a useful technique for creating a neat, decorative finish to your CNC cut panels. We can use our edgebander to apply melamine or solid wood veneer edging from 0.4mm to 3mm thick onto straight or curved edges, and we can manually apply edging to more complex shapes. If your panels are cut from MfMDF or chipboard, then you can add edging to match the melamine facing to create the appearance of a solid, more expensive material. Alternatively, adding a contrasting edging gives you the flexibility to create an almost endless choice of different decorative effects. Just by picking from veneer, 3D acrylics, aluminium or high-gloss ABS edging, you can generate a completely new atmosphere in one room or store.
Different types of edging
-
- ABS
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene edging, or ABS, as it is more commonly known, is one of the newer edge banding materials on the market. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to PVC. ABS edging comes in a vast range of colours and finishes and is very resistant to everyday knocks and scrapes. It can withstand water, is highly heat resistant and isn’t damaged by domestic cleaning products. This material is extremely flexible, so you can use it to edge straight boards, curves, or custom shapes.

- Melamine
We use pre-glued melamine edging tape for curved edges that aren’t suitable for machine-applied ABS edging. This is ironed on by hand. Melamine edging is usually only about 0.3mm thick, rather than the 1-2mm thickness we generally use for ABS.

- Wood veneer
As the name suggests, wood veneer edging is made from real wood. Available in a range of thicknesses from 0.5mm to 3mm, we used this to edge veneered MDF and chipboard to create the appearance of solid wood

- Aluminium
A thin layer of decorative aluminium on ABS edging creates a stunning contemporary look in a range of metallic shades and finishes. This can be applied to matching metal décor panels. The aluminium has a scrub-resistant coating and is covered with a protective layer for a durable finish.

- 3D Acrylic
As the name suggests, 3D edgings have an appearance of depth. Glass and aluminium are combined over a 1mm or 2mm thick layer of acrylic décor. The final appearance depends on the decorative effect, from wood grain to metallic stripes.
